2021 Organizational & Community Needs Assessment Survey

UWLES partnered with Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore and The Campbell Foundation on the 2021 Organizational & Community Needs Assessment.  This survey gathered information from nonprofits in Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico and Worcester Counties on community needs and gaps in service, as well as the impact of COVID-19 on nonprofits and organizational readiness to engage with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programming.

We are grateful to The Campbell Foundation for funding the survey.

Strengthening Communities - Lower Shore Nonprofit Impact

The Strengthening Communities survey and report details the economic and social impact of the nonprofit sector in Dorchester, Somerset, Wicomico, and Worcester Counties. The report, released in Summer 2019, provides the first-ever documentation of the contributions made by the local nonprofit sector.

Through this collaborative effort, quantitative data can be used for future community and nonprofit growth and highlights the significant role nonprofits play in the region’s economy and quality of life. Nonprofits serving the region completed the survey regardless of mission, age, history, size or type of programs. The study used data collected from nonprofits and existing data from the IRS and the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation.
